Looking for Sabbath Time
Join us for a Lenten Retreat at the Church of the Advent in Cape May on February 19 and 20th.
We explore why Sabbath time, a dedicated time of rest, is important, especially in our busy world. We will learn traditional and novel ways to keep a Sabbath. We will work with living in the moment, listening, balance and other classic spiritual practices as ways to find places and times of rest. There will be ways, some perhaps new to you, to begin keeping a Sabbath time in your daily life, one of joy and creativity. Step away from a very busy ordinary life for moment and make this Sabbath time with us. There will be time for prayer, conversation, and fellowship and, of course, the simple gift of silence.
Our retreat will be led by The Rev. Dr. Jane Tomaine, an Episcopal priest and author of St. Benedict’s Toolbox: The Nuts and Bolts of Everyday Benedictine Living (Morehouse, 2005). A nationally known retreat leader, she leads retreats and workshops on the Rule of St. Benedict and Benedictine spirituality at parishes and retreat centers across the country and teaches at the Newark School of Theology. She will be sharing her love of this spirituality with us and how wisdom from ancient practices speaks today with a living voice.
Join us at the Church of the Advent in Cape May. Our retreat will begin Friday evening (6:30 pm to 8:30 pm) and continue on Saturday (9:30 am to 3:00 pm). A simple lunch will be provided on Saturday. If you are from out of town there will be time to walk the historic streets of Cape May. We will be delighted to have you and encourage you to be with us from Friday evening on. You are most welcome if you can only attend on Saturday and the program is designed accordingly. To defray expenses we are requesting a donation of $30 (or $25 if you are only able to come on Saturday).
For information on the retreat or to register, please contact the Church of the Advent at 609-804-3065 or follow the web site link at www.capemayadvent.org. The church is located at Washington and Franklin Streets in historic Cape May.
